Cynthia and I had wanted to create something after we discovered our love and interest in dance and film. We met at the inaugural Space Dance audition (Salamanca Arts Centre) and have remained comrades since early 2013.
After two unique and inspiring dance film workshops with Sue Healey and Sandi Sissel, and support and encouragement from Kelly Drummond Cawthon, here is a work I hope to continue to build on.
I have been playing with layers, colour and movement. Right now it's about play through the filming process and discovering choreography through film editing. I am keen to get the imagery projected into different spaces and see how spaces change and where I can bring in the live performance.
There is no audio currently. I hope to learn how to mix my own sounds. But for now I experiment with the visual and the non literal.
CLIENT: Anna Walls
BRIEF: It was a joy to film Anna Walls in the production of her campaign video to fund her travels to Turkey. She qualified for the Australian Team to compete in the 2016 World Indoor Archery Championships.
CLIENT: Illawarra Primary School
BRIEF: During May and June in 2016, I was an artist in residence with the Illawarra Primary School's Possoms (Prep) coordinated by artist Kirsty Grierson. Teaming with Reggio Emilio class teacher and artist Karen Purcell we explored object and puppetry manipulation and aligned our activities with the Possom's class activities. We explored spiders, structures and bringing objects to life.
The 5 year old children really shone in the activity, engaging wholeheartedly and worked together so seamlessly.
The video is documentation of the activities which took place to share with the school staff, students and parents at an arts event evening at the school.
The nicest couple, Kim and Felix, were married at Peppermint Bay in Southern Tasmania, 31 January 2014.
This was my first time producing a video for a wedding.
