Based in Tasmania, Australia, Laura Purcell’s practice focuses on themes of identity through a feminist lens utilising body, architecture and site merging the disciplines of sculpture, visual theatre, puppetry and performance. Manipulating - and manipulated by - the object, puppet or self, she develops characters, alter-ego's, costume and sculptures, devising and coordinating solo and collaborative works.
Laura’s residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts has focused on research and development towards future projects. Her open studio will share a selection of ideas and potential directions gathered during the residency and some examples of past works.
“I hope you will be able to join me. Your responses are most welcome. I look forward to meeting you.”
